Field Service Mechanical Engineer
Up to 47,000 DOE + Package

Alecto Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established engineering contractor specialising in the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, and Aggregates sectors. We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Technicians to join the team as Field Service Engineers, supporting ongoing projects across the region.

Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance and mechanical repairs on rotating equipment, including large turbines and various pump systems
- Service auxiliary and balance of plant (BOP) equipment such as gearboxes, valves, coolers, and conveyors
- Use precision tools including micrometers and alignment equipment
- Undertake both workshop and field service work, producing detailed reports, condition assessments, and recommendations
- Communicate technical findings clearly with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing
- Diagnose faults on mechanical equipment across heavy engineering industries
- Complete routine servicing and defect repairs to meet OEM standards and compliance requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently on mechanical systems
- Support and lead planned outages and project work as required
- Manage workloads effectively to meet project deadlines
Skills and Requirements:
- Recognised Mechanical qualifications (ONC, HNC, NVQ, or equivalent)
- Strong background in fault-finding, repair, installation, and commissioning
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
- Full UK driving licence (preferably clean)
- Ability to meet security clearance requirements
- Hands-on experience in heavy engineering sectors
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Background in power generation, particularly with prime movers and BOP
- OEM pump or turbine expertise
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment
- Skilled in precision measurement and technical reporting
- Physically fit and adaptable to the demands of the role
- Positive, flexible approach with willingness to travel and stay away when required
- Availability for on-call rota (1 in 5 basis)
