Hours:45 hours a week, 7am 4pm, 42 weeks a year

About the Role

Are you passionate about food, nutrition, and making a positive difference in childrens lives? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead our school kitchen team and deliver healthy, high-quality meals that our students love.

As the Chef Manager youll be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of our school kitchen, managing a team, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards. Youll play a key role in menu planning, budgeting, and promoting a welcoming and inclusive dining environment for pupils and staff alike.

The site has 1100 students, with the kitchen cooking for around 750 per day. You will be managing a team of 13 staff members made up of 2 chefs, a supervisor and general catering assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced meals in line with school food standards
  • Lead, motivate and manage the catering team
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene
  • Manage stock levels, orders, and budgets efficiently
  • Liaise with school leadership on dietary needs and menu updates
  • Ensure allergen information is accurately recorded and communicated
  • Foster a positive, friendly atmosphere in the dining hall

  • Has experience working in a busy catering environment, ideally in a private school or similar setting
  • Has strong organisational and leadership skills
