Lead Practitioner – Science (Full-time)

An ambitious and forward-thinking secondary school in Thurrock is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Lead Practitioner of Science from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to lead on teaching and learning across the Science department and support wider school improvement.

Salary: Lead Practitioner Scale (L1–L5) – approx. Ā£47,417 to Ā£52,171 per annum
TLR available in addition depending on responsibilities

About the role:

  • Leading on the development of high-quality teaching practice within the Science faculty.

  • Supporting staff CPD, mentoring colleagues, and modelling outstanding classroom practice.

  • Teaching Science across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 available for experienced candidates).

  • Contributing to whole-school strategies for curriculum development and student outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a Science subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
