Customs Coordinator - Imports
Salary: Up to 30,000
Location: Basildon, Essex - Full-time
Hybrid working: 2 days from home after probation

We're looking for an experienced EU Road Freight & Customs Coordinator (Imports) to join our growing Basildon team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid background in freight forwarding who thrives on managing customs processes and ensuring smooth cross-border movements. What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing the end-to-end process for EU road freight import shipments

  • Taking ownership of customs entries and clearances, ensuring full HMRC compliance

  • Preparing and checking all import documentation, including commodity codes, tariffs, and EORI details

  • Liaising daily with hauliers, carriers, and customs authorities to ensure efficient movement of goods

  • Providing accurate quotes, bookings, and shipment tracking updates

  • Monitoring shipments through to POD, keeping clients informed at every stage

  • Proactively resolving customs or transport issues to minimise delays

  • Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong client relationships



What We're Looking For

  • Essential: Proven experience in EU road freight forwarding, ideally import-focused

  • Essential: Strong working knowledge of UK import customs procedures and documentation

  • Experience using customs clearance systems (e.g. CDS, Destin8, or similar)

  • Up-to-date understanding of post-Brexit regulations and international trade requirements

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Confident communicator with a proactive, professional approach
