Customs Coordinator - Imports
Salary: Up to 30,000
Location: Basildon, Essex - Full-time
Hybrid working: 2 days from home after probation
We're looking for an experienced EU Road Freight & Customs Coordinator (Imports) to join our growing Basildon team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid background in freight forwarding who thrives on managing customs processes and ensuring smooth cross-border movements. What You'll Be Doing
Managing the end-to-end process for EU road freight import shipments
Taking ownership of customs entries and clearances, ensuring full HMRC compliance
Preparing and checking all import documentation, including commodity codes, tariffs, and EORI details
Liaising daily with hauliers, carriers, and customs authorities to ensure efficient movement of goods
Providing accurate quotes, bookings, and shipment tracking updates
Monitoring shipments through to POD, keeping clients informed at every stage
Proactively resolving customs or transport issues to minimise delays
Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong client relationships
What We're Looking For
Essential: Proven experience in EU road freight forwarding, ideally import-focused
Essential: Strong working knowledge of UK import customs procedures and documentation
Experience using customs clearance systems (e.g. CDS, Destin8, or similar)
Up-to-date understanding of post-Brexit regulations and international trade requirements
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Confident communicator with a proactive, professional approach
