Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading servicing generation company to recruit a HSE Manager to be based at their office in West Horndon, Essex.

The HSE Manager role comes with a salary of up to 50,000 + van + bonus + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the HSE Manager

As the Lead Technical Project Administrator you will:

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the company HSE Management System in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Conduct internal and external HSE audits, safety inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
  • Provide expert HSE guidance to senior management and project teams, supporting site activities across multiple customer locations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events, producing reports, analysing trends, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and behavioural safety initiatives to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Support bid and tender preparation by developing HSE documentation and assisting with client HSE requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe working practices during projects, outages, and high-hazard activities.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Minimum 5 years' HSE experience within heavy engineering environments (e.g., power, petro-chemical, energy, aggregates).
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health & Safety qualification, with Grad IOSH membership as a minimum.
  • Proven internal auditor capability with experience auditing against ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and experience managing HSE in high-hazard environments.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to client sites nationwide.
