Deputy Manager - Children and Young People
Location: Various homes across South Wales
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to 35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Brook Street Social Care are seeking an experienced and committed Deputy Manager to support the efficient running of children's residential homes across South Wales. This is a vital leadership role for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and empowering young people to thrive.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll provide operational support to the Registered Manager and take charge of the home in their absence. You'll lead and supervise staff, ensure compliance with legislation and company policies, and contribute to the development of a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in all aspects of home management
- Act as the nominated person in charge during the Manager's absence
- Oversee compliance, staffing, finances, administration, and health & safety
- Lead staff teams and promote a positive working culture
- Supervise and develop staff, including conducting inductions and identifying training needs
- Maintain high standards of care and safeguarding
- Monitor incident reports, risk assessments, and significant events
- Assist with budget preparation and cost control
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and record-keeping
- Promote equality, diversity, and individual rights
- Build relationships with external agencies and stakeholders
- Support young people's development, education, and wellbeing
About You
You'll be a confident leader with a strong understanding of residential childcare and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care - Children and Young People
- At least 2 years' supervisory experience in a residential setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage compliance, risk, and staff performance
- Full UK manual driving licence
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Reg. 32 requirements and child protection legislation
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Experience in budget management and report writing
