We are currently working in partnership with a highly regarded, multi-disciplinary civil engineering and development group, with a strong presence across South Wales and a track record of delivering complex infrastructure and development schemes.

Due to a consistently strong pipeline of regional work, their civil engineering and groundworks division is now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading commercial role across multiple concurrent projects.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of several schemes from inception through to final account, while also supporting the Commercial Manager in leading and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.

Projects typically include greenfield infrastructure works, residential and commercial groundworks packages, spine roads and Section 278 works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full commercial lifecycle of multiple projects
  • Prepare cost plans, budgets, and valuations
  • Manage subcontract procurement, payment assessments, and contract administration
  • Ensure accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and final accounts
  • Work closely with the operational and technical teams to meet commercial and delivery targets
  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities
  • Support the Commercial Manager with team development and training
  • Mentor junior Quantity Surveyors and ensure best commercial practices across the team

Key Criteria:

  • Experience of commercially leading civil engineering or groundworks contractor
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects of varying size and complexity
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge (e.g. NEC, JCT)
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to leadership and team development
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Proficiency in commercial software and reporting tools
