Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with special educational needs, both individually and in small groups

  • Assist the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being

  • Support pupils with personal care where required

  • Help create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teaching staff

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals

  • Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety guidelines



Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Ability to support pupils with diverse needs, including behavioural, emotional, or physical needs

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent)

  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs

  • Training in behaviour management, Team Teach, or similar
