Project Accountant required for a leading engineering group, based in the West Midlands. This role will be based on site 1 day/week, with the remainder of the time spent working remotely, including frequent visits to national sites to business partner with project teams.
As the Project Accountant, you will be responsible for production of income statements, balance sheets and cash flowforecasts for a large scale project. You'll oversee the overall financial reporting and management accounting duties for the project, as well asbusiness partnering key stakeholders integral to its completion.
The project in question is a £multibillion budget, multiyear project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of the project financial report, including financial reporting, month end duties, cash flow forecasting and revenue recognition modelling for your assigned project
- Driving project cash flow in line with group finance expectations and operational feasibility
- Lead monthly project reviews with the Project Manager, with full autonomy over project cost reporting and project timeline progress reporting
- Identification of risks and opportunities, and implementation of controls to ensure all risks are mitigated, and opportunities are seized in line with group governance processes
- Driving commercial astuteness in the project operations team, communicating with stakeholders both downstream (suppliers) and upstream (customers)
- Following up on project audit reports, and designing remedies related to ongoing projects under your jurisdiction
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) with experience in industry working in site-based projects. You'll need excellent financial and commercial acumen, but also strong communication and business partnering skills to manage and influence stakeholders inside and outside the company.
Experience with Agile/Waterfall or PRINCE2 methodologies would be advantageous, and you'll also need a full, clean driving license.
