Astute's Nuclear team is exclusively partnered with a speciality lifting and handling equipment business, acting as the lifting principal contractor on Hinkley Point C, and in the future, Sizewell C. They are looking to recruit a Lifting Supervisor for the Hinkley Point C project.

The Lifting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all lifting operations on-site, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining a high standard of operational excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient execution of all lifting activities. Responsibilities and duties of the Lifting Supervisor role

Reporting to the Black Hat Supervisor you will:

  • Oversee all lifting operations on-site, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop lift plans, alongside Appointed Persons, for all lifting activities.
  • Supervise the selection and use of lifting equipment and ensure it is properly maintained and inspected.
  • Provide guidance and support to lifting teams, ensuring all staff are competent and certified for their roles.
  • Ensure effective communication with all team members and stakeholders during lifting operations.
  • Report and support investigations of any incidents or near misses related to lifting operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, inspections, and audits.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the lifting team.


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • CCNSG Safety Passport
  • SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
  • Valid A62 card (Lift Supervisor) is essential.
  • One of the following:
    • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Moving Loads, Lifting and Positioning Steel Structures, Plant or Equipment, or Steel Erection.
    • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Moving Loads, Lifting and Positioning Steel Structures, Plant or Equipment, or Steel Erection (Minimum Level 6 for qualifications awarded in Scotland).
    • ACE card in Moving Loads.
