- 30-minute lunch break (1:00pm – 1:30pm)
- £32,000 per annum

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Export / Shipping Clerk specialising in hazardous goods to join a well-established family run business. This position requires a thorough understanding of hazardous materials shipping requirements, proper documentation, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Export Documentation: Prepare and ensure accurate export documentation for hazardous materials shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), and Dangerous Goods Declarations.
- Compliance with Regulations: Ensure all shipments meet international and domestic regulations, including IATA, IMDG, ADR, and DOT standards, as well as any specific country or carrier requirements for hazardous goods.
- Coordination with Shipping Partners: Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to arrange transportation, including identifying the most cost-effective and compliant shipping methods for hazardous goods.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials shipments, including tracking shipments, updating databases, and ensuring proper documentation is filed and readily accessible.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect packaging and labelling of hazardous materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards before shipment.
- Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding shipment statuses, delivery timelines, and any issues related to hazardous goods handling.
- Problem Resolution: Handle any discrepancies or issues related to hazardous goods shipments, working to resolve problems efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- General Administrative Tasks: Answering inbound calls and handling them efficiently as first port of call. General administrative duties such as: taking care of the post, filing, administering emails and all other duties as requested.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in export or shipping operations, ideally within a hazardous goods field (although not essential).
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations for hazardous materials (IATA, IMDG, ADR, DOT, etc.) – Ideal but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Ability to work in a team environment and adhere to strict safety guidelines.
