QHS MANAGER

We are looking for a motivated QHSE Manager to join a market leader in their respective industry. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be entrusted to lead parts of the business right from the start with responsibility for key results and involve managing hard and soft services, site and facilities maintenance, HSE group and improvement projects for the site. The position will appeal to a strong QHS professional looking for their next challenging role within in a secure and stable company.

Primary Duties
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality management systems to ensure compliance with relevant certifications (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry standards.
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes across the business to ensure the consistent quality of products for customers.
  • Conduct internal quality audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential quality issues and areas for improvement.
  • Lead the handling of all quality-related non-conformities, including customer complaints, supplier issues, and internal defects, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Implement quality inspections on incoming raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on quality performance through data analysis, identifying trends, root causes of non-conformities, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on quality standards, best practices, and quality control techniques to employees at all levels.
  • Support the commercial team in understanding customer expectations regarding product quality, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist customer service in addressing quality-related queries and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Contribute to new product development by ensuring quality and compliance are maintained throughout the process.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce defects, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Implement the EFQM framework to drive excellence in quality and performance.
  • Stay updated on changes in quality standards, regulations, and best practices, ensuring their effective integration into the business.
  • Identify and address health and safety training needs, ensuring continuous learning and compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to reduce workplace risks and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct management system audits and inspections, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance workplace safety.
  • Foster a safety-first culture through awareness initiatives, safety meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Mentor and support employees in understanding HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective measures are implemented.
  • Conduct regular meetings to discuss health, safety, and quality issues, tracking progress against objectives.
  • Stay updated on relevant health and safety legislation and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve a safe work environment with zero accidents and incidents.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to ensure safe working practices and continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Qualifications and Training
  • H&S & Quality improvement mindset
  • NEBOSH National Diploma / NVQ 4
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Strong knowledge of H&S & Quality Legislations and standards
  • Coaching and mentoring skills

If you also have the following, that's great:
  • BSc - Chemistry or equivalent
  • ISO - Lead Auditor Role or equivalent
  • Working knowledge/experience of ERP - MS Dynamics
  • Working knowledge of TRIR
