Job Overview:
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services to a broad portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. This is a full-time, office-based position, offering the chance to work in a collaborative setting with clear opportunities for growth and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Statement Preparation: Produce year-end accounts for a variety of clients in compliance with UK accounting standards.
- Management Accounts: Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including variance analysis and performance commentary.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and submission of Corporation Tax, Income Tax, and VAT returns, ensuring all filings are accurate and timely.
- Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for accounting queries and information.
- Bookkeeping & Records Oversight: Review client bookkeeping, prepare trial balances, journals, and reconciliations.
- Audit Assistance: Support audit processes by preparing working papers and conducting testing as required.
- Advisory Services: Contribute to client advisory work, including business planning and tax strategy.
- VAT Returns: Prepare and review VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
Qualifications: ACA / ACCA / AAT qualified, or qualified by experience.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a UK accountancy practice environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
Solid understanding of UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Organised: Capable of managing workloads and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Team-Oriented: A positive, proactive team player who supports colleagues and contributes to firm-wide goals.
BenefitsSalary: £30,000 - £55,000
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
