ProTalent are working on behalf of a long-established and highly respected firm of Chartered Accountants in Brighton & Hove who are looking to strengthen their growing team with the addition of a Senior or Semi-Senior Accountant.

The Role

You will take on a varied and client-facing role, ensuring high standards of service and compliance. Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, annual accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, and management reports.

  • Building strong relationships with clients, providing advice, and supporting them with their accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).

  • Supervising and mentoring junior accountants and trainees, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development.

  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and the latest tax legislation.

  • Staying up to date with regulatory changes and adapting processes as required.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance client service.

About You

The ideal candidate will be technically strong, client-focused, and eager to develop their career within a supportive environment. You will bring:

  • AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified status.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in practice, with a solid grounding in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and tax returns.

  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance.

  • Experience with accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and good Excel skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to clients.

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
