Assistant Accountant

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this individual will join an organisation that has an impressive and consistent history of growth. My client is ideally looking for an AAT qualified individual but may consider those towards the latter stages of their studies. Multi-currency experience is a big bonus! Most importantly, you will be an experienced Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper with good technical understanding of debits / credits and accounting processes. You will also have good IT skills and be very comfortable with either QuickBooks, Xero or Sage packages

Role overview:

  • Bookkeeping including multi-currency sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank accounts
  • Liaising with the sales team to ensure accurate information
  • Mid-month and end of month payment runs for overheads
  • Liaison with Directors on payroll preparation for submission to our payroll processor, confirmation of the net pay & monthly PAYE & payroll journal. Managing our occupational pension schemes & other staff benefits
  • Month end adjustments such as prepayments & accruals, depreciation
  • Month end multi-currency bank and nominal reconciliations including corrections
  • Reconciliation of multi-currency control accounts and submission of VAT Returns
  • Monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting & analysis to presentation deadlines
  • Preparation of yearend statutory schedules for our accountant
  • Assisting with the budgeting process, variance reporting and meeting budget holders
  • Maintenance of our Ringfenced Funding record & preparation of our ATOL quarterly report
  • Various accounting around our leased building
  • Other reporting & reconciliations as required
