Senior Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant

We’re partnering with a well established, privately owned SME business in the heart of Brighton to recruit a Senior Bookkeeper to join the team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working as part of a close-knit team, and making a real impact in a growing business.
You’ll play a key part in the smooth running of the finance function, taking ownership of the day-to-day accounts and ensuring accurate financial reporting to the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Handling invoice finance and overseeing debtor/creditor management
- Preparing and running financial reports for review by SLT
- Managing payment runs and schedules
- Providing accurate and timely figures to support business decision-making
- Maintaining Xero records to a high standard
We’re looking for a confident finance professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload in an SME environment.
Requirements:
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience
- Solid experience across bookkeeping
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
- Confident in managing AP/AR, reconciliations, and reporting
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently in a fully onsite role
- Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)
