Assistant Building Surveyor – BrightonResidential & Public Sector Focus | Up to £40,000 + APC Support

A respected multidisciplinary consultancy in Brighton is looking for an ambitious Assistant Building Surveyor to join their team. With a strong client base across the residential and public sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to gain broad project exposure and progress your career towards chartership.

The role offers hands-on experience across a wide range of professional and project-based surveying services. You’ll work alongside senior surveyors on everything from defect diagnosis to contract administration and new-build projects—ideal for someone looking to build a well-rounded foundation and achieve MRICS status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out building surveys, site inspections, and defect analysis

  • Support the delivery of refurbishment, maintenance, and new-build projects

  • Assist in preparing schedules of work, specifications, and technical reports

  • Work with clients, contractors, and consultants throughout project delivery

  • Contribute to contract administration and procurement processes

  • Monitor project budgets and timelines

  • Ensure compliance with current building regulations and health & safety standards

Requirements

  • RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying

  • Ideally currently enrolled on your APC
  • At least a year's worth of experience in a building surveying role (including placements)

  • Strong communication and report-writing skills

  • Eager to progress and work towards chartered status

  • Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and within a team

  • Full UK driving licence
