Grafton Banks Finance are working with a well-respected property company with offices based across the UK. We are actively seeking a Finance Manager for the Brighton based office. This is a full-time permanent role managing a small team and reporting in the board of Directors. This job role will oversee the financial operations across the growing business.  This is a pivotal role with broad responsibilities, ranging from reconciliation and reporting to leadership and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information and delivering a robust and compliant accounting function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the completion, accuracy, and ongoing upkeep of all property account reconciliations.
  • Oversight and support in agreeing tenant and client payment plans, ensuring compliance and sound financial judgement.
  • Lead on property onboarding and disengagement processes, including financial setup, transfer of funds, and liaison with internal teams.
  • Manage all aspects of property insurance including renewals and maintaining appropriate cover across the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance financial regulations and best practice at all times.
  • Establish, implement, and manage effective internal controls to safeguard client funds and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee timely preparation of annual accounting packs including profit & loss, balance sheets and supporting schedules and coordinate with client and/or accountant as required.
  • Collaborate closely with property managers, surveyors, H&S and the COO to provide financial insight and operational support.
  • Supervise outsourced bookkeeping and accounting partners across the group of companies, ensuring deliverables are met and reviewing quarterly management accounts for accuracy and insights.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of property management accountants; set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Drive continual improvement in financial systems, reporting processes, and team development.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have practical experience working as a Finance Manager and taking a leadership role whilst being supported by the wider business. You will need to have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Strong IT skills including accounting software such as SAGE and XERO. Ideally you will have had experience of understanding property management and the full finance management. This is a full-time permanent job working Monday – Friday.
