Senior Process Engineer – Wastewater

A leading UK utilities organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its Wastewater Process Engineering Team in Brighton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing and optimising wastewater treatment solutions that make a tangible impact on the environment and local communities.

About the Role

Working as part of a dynamic, multi-skilled team, you’ll provide technical expertise across a range of wastewater treatment projects — from process design and optimisation to operational support on live sites.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Developing process calculations, control philosophies, P&IDs, performance specifications, and commissioning plans.
  • Leading innovative process design solutions that deliver measurable TOTEX efficiencies.
  • Supporting site operations by improving plant performance, implementing optimisation measures, and troubleshooting treatment processes.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
     

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-impact projects while contributing to sustainable water management for the future.

About You - We’re looking for a driven and technically strong Engineer with:

  • A degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng/BEng/BSc) or an equivalent discipline.
  • 6+ years’ experience in the water industry or consultancy environment.
  • Proven experience in wastewater process design, optimisation, and commissioning support for UK Water Companies.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership (desirable).
  • Strong analytical skills and a collaborative, problem-solving approach.
