Aerostructure Cost Engineer

Location: Filton (60% onsite, flexible working available)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: 26.16 per hour (PAYE) / 35.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)

About the Role

Are you passionate about engineering, cost optimisation, and making a real impact in the aerospace sector? Join our dynamic Cost Engineering team, supporting current and future Airbus products through innovative design-to-cost processes.

As an Aerostructure Cost Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our aircraft remain at the forefront of cost effectiveness and operational excellence. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, using your technical expertise to provide independent, data-driven cost estimates and support strategic business decisions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing recurring and non-recurring cost estimates for A220 Design to Cost projects, with opportunities to support other programmes (Single Aisle, A350, and more).
  • Using digital costing tools and models to deliver harmonised, reliable estimates aligned with the latest industry standards.
  • Supporting cost modelling, particularly for composite manufacturing processes.
  • Leading cost engineering discussions with suppliers and participating in design-to-cost workshops, sharing insights and recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
  • Analysing work package estimates, identifying opportunities, and communicating findings to programme and engineering stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the quality, neutrality, and reliability of all costing procedures and results.
  • Supporting manufacturing and engineering activities to accurately estimate costs associated with design changes.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or engineering, ideally within aerospace or composites.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (composite, metallic, machined, fabricated, assembly).
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex topics and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to learning new tools and processes.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Commitment to integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement.
