Head of School - Specialist Education Provision (Opening Summer 2026)

A brand-new specialist school is opening its doors in Summer 2026, and we are seeking an exceptional Head of School to lead, shape and develop this transformative new provision from the very beginning. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in creating a school that will make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment for pupils aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for up to 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational setting where every learner can thrive and reach their full potential.

The Role

As Head of School, you will work closely with the Principal to drive the school's development and growth in line with its shared values and strategic plans. You'll play a key role in shaping the school's ethos, culture and direction from the ground up.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading operational excellence and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors.
  • Driving pupil attendance, progress and achievement across the school.
  • Building and developing a skilled, resilient and motivated staff team.
  • Ensuring compliance with Independent School Standards and maintaining the highest expectations of quality and care.
  • Championing a culture of inclusion, enrichment and positive behaviour.

About You

We're looking for a visionary, experienced and passionate leader who:

  • Has a proven track record in school leadership, ideally within specialist or SEND education.
  • Is deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Can inspire, lead and develop a team with empathy, clarity and purpose.
  • Understands the unique needs of students with ASD and SEMH and is driven to achieve outstanding outcomes for them.
  • Is confident in implementing school improvement strategies, curriculum design and quality assurance processes.

You will be someone who inspires creativity and collaboration an innovative leader and a strong advocate for your students. You will bring a passion for excellence and a commitment to delivering meaningful educational outcomes that change lives.
