Our client is searching for a motivated, hands-on professional to join their growing team in Portbury, North Somerset.

Responsibilities
As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Depot Foreman and ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standard. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Servicing and maintaining generators both on-site and in the depot
  • Fault-finding on control panels and AC/DC electrical systems
  • Performing mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Joining the out-of-hours on-call rota (including Bank Holidays)
  • Communicating directly with customers to ensure excellent service
  • Completing essential maintenance paperwork (service sheets, PDI sheets, etc.)
  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety procedures

Desired Skills and Experience
We welcome applicants who are already in engineering roles as well as mechanically minded candidates with transferable skills. Ideal applicants will have:

  • An NVQ in plant maintenance or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Desired but not essential as all training given)
  • Experience in the generator or plant hire industry (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritise workloads
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A forklift licence (training available if needed)
