Hours: Mon–Thurs: 8am–5pm | Fri: 8am–4pm
Salary: £50,000-£60,000

The Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Design Manager to join our client’s team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and coordinate design development across a range of construction projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency. From concept to construction, you’ll be the vital link between architectural vision and practical delivery—guiding teams, managing design documentation, and driving innovation across every phase.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the design process from preconstruction through to delivery.
Lead technical and progress meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Manage design documentation, drawings, and specifications to meet programme targets.
Review design proposals for buildability, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, and external stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records and manage the RFI process.
Support planning and building consents applications.
Mentor junior design staff and support their development.
Promote innovation and sustainability in design.
Use platforms like Procore and document control systems to manage design flow.
About You
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and brings a proactive mindset to solving complex design challenges.
Essential
Proven experience in a design-related role within the construction industry.
Solid knowledge of English and Scottish building regulations.
Strong technical skills with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Ability to develop cost-effective, buildable solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (architecture, engineering, etc.).
Desirable
Experience in cladding remediation, façade design, or refurbishment projects.
Familiarity with Revit, Procore, and document management systems.
Professional membership (e.g. CIOB, RIBA).
Experience mentoring junior staff and conducting site inspections.
