My client is seeking a Clinical Negligence Paralegal to join their team in Bristol.

Job Purpose

To manage day-to-day work on clinical negligence files under the supervision of the Legal Director and assist fee earners in advancing cases towards settlement. This role involves supporting departmental activities and collaborating effectively with the wider team. Prior experience in clinical negligence is essential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake fee-earning work under supervision across a caseload of clinical negligence matters.

• Support senior fee earners with substantial and complex cases, including during periods of holiday or absence.

• Assist with new enquiries and risk assessments.

• Attend court hearings and conferences with Counsel under the direction and supervision of fee earners.

• Draft legal documents, correspondence, instructions to Counsel, and witness statements.

• Liaise professionally and promptly with clients, medical professionals, experts, barristers, and courts.

• Maintain accurate and well-organised digital case records using the firm’s case management system.

• Monitor case deadlines, key dates, and procedural timetables.

• Conduct legal research and provide concise summaries of findings.

• Ensure all legal work complies with regulatory and professional standards.

• Demonstrate strong personal organisation and attention to detail.

• Contribute to the department’s online presence by preparing articles and sharing content on social media.

• Provide flexible support to the team during periods of absence.

• Collaborate across the team to deliver excellent client service.

• Meet agreed billing and performance targets under guidance from the Head of Department.

Person Specification

• Significant paralegal experience in a clinical negligence environment is essential.

• Solid understanding of clinical negligence litigation processes.

• Experience supporting fee earners with clinical negligence claims.

• Competence in handling and analysing medical records.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency with legal case management systems and Microsoft Office.

• High standards of professionalism, organisation, and attention to detail.

• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

• Flexible and adaptable to changing operational demands.

• Right to live and work in the UK.

• Appropriate DBS disclosure required prior to appointment.
