I’m looking for technology leader who wants to help improve the education of millions of children across the UK!After starting out with the mission of supporting children with achieving the very best results in their GCSEs, this organisation has grown to multi-million pound turnover within just a few years.Even more impressive, they’ve done this in a bootstrap manner, with no funding, purely via using their profits to reinvest in their product and grow from there. They provide a freemium service for students who want to get the very best from their GCSEs and they are now at a stage where they feel the time is right to take things to the next level! There is huge potential to expand into new subject areas and improve the reach of their product. And that’s where you come in. As they provide a SaaS product, they need to scale their super-team of devs (currently at a head count of 3) into a much larger team to help achieve their growth (hopefully 15+ in the next 3 years). They’re looking for an experienced tech leader who has operated at Head of Engineering or CTO level and has experience of scaling engineering teams of a similar size. You’ll come from a background in SaaS and ideally B2C, but B2B would also be considered as that could come in useful. You’ll also have the technical nous to provide architectural leadership and be able to lead the tech direction when encountering the inevitable problems that arise as you scale a product of this magnitude.Any experience working in the Education field would be a huge benefit but isn’t essential. At present, this role is remote-first, however being based in the Southwest would be advantageous. This is an amazing opportunity to shape the future of a business that will positively impact millions of children across the UK. You’ll benefit from real ownership that comes from a bootstrap environment and an organisation who relish the opportunity to try new things! What you’ll need
  • Experience operating at Head of Engineering or CTO level
  • A background in successfully scaling engineering teams of a similar size, whilst supporting companies that have gone through a similar growth trajectory
  • The ability to lead on architectural decisions as the product scales
  • Experience of hiring talent into start-up environments and building effective working cultures for a scaling team
  • Strong & clear communication skills, with the desire to an environment that values honest communication and an approach of being open to trying new things
  • Experience in a B2C environment would be ideal, but B2B experience will also be considered
  • Any experience in the education or edtech sector would be a huge bonus but is not essential
  • Be passionate about working in the tech4good sector and the subsequent impact that being successful in this role will have
