Senior Data Engineer required by our market leading client in Central Bristol on a hybrid working basis. You will be required to work onsite 2 days a week but with some flexibility. About the Role:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining scalable, high-performance data pipelines and architecture. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines and architectures aligned with strategic goals.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to data engineers, promoting high standards and continuous learning.
- Champion automation and foster a culture of innovation and improvement across the team.
- Identify and resolve complex data issues, enhancing reliability and performance.
- Implement and maintain data validation, quality checks, and monitoring solutions to uphold governance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
- Contribute to setting development standards and practices across the data engineering function.
- Research and trial emerging technologies to keep the data platform future-ready.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and key technical governance processes.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer / Data Engineer in fast-paced environments.
- Proficient in SQL, Python, and PySpark for transforming structured and semi-structured data.
- Deep understanding of data modelling and pipeline architecture design.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and low/no-code tools (e.g., Talend, SnapLogic).
- Hands-on with cloud-native data tools (AWS preferred): Lambda, Glue, S3, Redshift, Athena, Secrets Manager.
- Skilled in API integration and managing cloud resources through SDKs or command-line interfaces.
- Knowledge of data warehouse technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Experience delivering solutions in Databricks, including Unity Catalog and Delta Lake.
- Comfortable with Git and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps).
- Strong Agile delivery background with experience in backlog management and sprint planning.
- Confident communicator and problem-solver with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven track record of mentoring team members and contributing to technical leadership.
