Job Description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Bristol for an ambitious Debt Recovery Officer. This role is responsible for managing overdue accounts, negotiating repayment plans, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism. Main responsibilities

  • Manage and take ownership of business support processes, acting as the Subject Matter Expert for a designated area.
  • Make real-time service decisions in response to operational issues, ensuring compliance with local procedures and guidance.
  • Assist the Team Leader in planning and deploying resources to maximise efficiency and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries, handling escalated and complex issues to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Drive process improvements and ensure service compliance with local guidance, policies, and legislation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in coordinating complex administrative functions, ideally within a public sector or council environment.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in real time, handle escalated issues, and provide solutions within set guidelines.
  • Able to liaise effectively with colleagues, senior management, and external stakeholders, including handling challenging or emotive situations.
  • Experience in planning, deploying resources, and supervising or guiding staff when necessary.
  • Familiarity with financial transactions, data analysis, and ICT systems, along with an understanding of compliance requirements and process improvements.
