Syntech Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading UKAS-accredited calibration laboratory to support the appointment of multipleMechanical Calibration Engineer, specialising in hand tool metrology.
The successful candidates will work on a broad range of mechanical inspection tools, delivering high-quality calibration services to clients in aerospace, automotive, and general engineering. The role is ideal for someone with solid bench-level experience in dimensional metrology who takes pride in quality and accuracy.
Mechanical Calibration Engineer Responsibilities:
- Calibrate mechanical measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, DTI indicators, plug gauges, thread gauges, and similar hand tools
- Work to UKAS or in-house standards
- Produce clear and accurate calibration certificates and maintain detailed records
- Inspect, identify, and report faults, wear, or non-conformities in mechanical instruments
- Operate manual and semi-automated dimensional test equipment with a focus on precision
- Support the wider team with metrology guidance and continuous improvement initiatives
Mechanical Calibration Engineer Experience:
- Strong background in mechanical calibration, with a focus on dimensional and hand tool equipment
- Previous experience in a UKAS-accredited (or ISO/IEC 17025 aligned) environment (desirable)
- Confident working with a wide variety of inspection tools
- Excellent attention to detail, report writing, and documentation accuracy
- Able to work independently or within a collaborative, quality-driven team
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, or equivalent (apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) desirable
