What we offer

The apprenticeship will be for a c24 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the aim that Apprentices move into a permanent position within the business subject to a suitable vacancy being available and in line with the selection process for the role. We also offer a competitive salary with incremental increases and benefits in line with permanent employees.

Your Apprenticeship Programme will consist of:

  • Induction programme delivered by DHL Global Forwarding (DGF)
  • Education, training and on-line learning provided by Seetec Outsource
  • Regular one to ones with your allocated Seetec Outsource coach
  • On the job training with your Manager and colleagues
  • Quarterly progress reviews with DGF UK management and your Seetec Outsource coach

Youll gain the core knowledge and skills of Inland Logistics and Freight Forwarding and learn how to co-ordinate customs entries for the shipment of goods coming into or going out of the UK. Activity will include:

  • Daily liaison with customers, handling bookings, and sharing delivery updates
  • Communicating with freight forwarders, hauliers and DHL transport/warehouse teams
  • Creating and checking custom declarations for imports and exports
  • Submitting declarations to HMRC
  • Managing customer requirements and problem solving
  • Maintaining customs entries files for certification; paper and electronic
  • Handling high volumes of queries from the Global Service Centre (GSC)

Skills required

  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Administrative and organisational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • IT skills
  • Minimum of 5 x GCSE passes including English and Maths
  • Minimum of 1 x A level (A C) or equivalent qualification
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK without the future need for sponsorship
