We are looking to appoint a Head of English who is passionate about curriculum excellence, has the drive to inspire both students and colleagues, and is ready to lead English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
You will be responsible for:

Leading the strategic development of English across the school

Raising standards of teaching and learning across the department

Developing curriculum maps, schemes of learning and assessment strategies that challenge and inspire

Supporting, coaching and developing a committed team of English specialists

Promoting literacy across the school and supporting whole-school priorities
Requirements:
-
Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training
-
Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level

Have experience of initiation and effective management of change

Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups

Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications

Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking
