One of the region’s most exciting Green-Tech businesses are scaling up a Bristol team and looking for a talented Lead Engineer.  They’re looking for someone to lead the building of a beautiful, usable product enabling individuals and businesses to fund projects that address the crisis of carbon, biodiversity and waste.  The product you’ll be working on will help to drive meaningful climate activism and action which will include restoring nature/rewilding, carbon removal, reducing electronic waste and removing plastic from our oceans.*2 days per week at their central Bristol office.The Lead Engineer role is a unique hands-on opportunity to develop the platform further leveraging data, AI and API integration to give customers easily accessible insights and tools to support their carbon and biodiversity investments. What skills you'll be needingTechnical
  • TypeScript, React/Next.js.
  • Python, Django, Postgres, AWS.
  • Experience building and implementing automated tests.
  • Strong appreciation of code quality and appreciation of good design.
Leadership
  • Ability to build out a small, highly motivated engineering team after 6 months.
  • Mentor and coach to promote a culture of high-quality customer-centric development.
  • Performing code reviews.
  • Ability to set the strategic direction of all technology and product development.
  • Ongoing review of the architecture of the platform, with particular focus on enable fast iterations and scalability.
What you'll be doingAs Lead Engineer you’ll hold a key leadership position within the executive team. You will be responsible for providing first-class technical leadership and, along with the team they hope to grow, create a compelling and competitive product vision and roadmap for the business. The lead is responsible for ensuring the technical platform and associated systems are built and maintained to the highest standards of security, compatibility, reliability and performance and for providing leadership and management to the technical function in pursuit of those objectives.   They will look to you to maintain and refresh the product roadmap, including identifying product issues backlog and resolutions.  From speaking to customers you will be able to identify new opportunities and developments, showcasing and securing sign off on new products or features.  Picking up an already successful product, you will initially be the sole developer with responsibility for making data accessible to the rest of the business and customers, meeting data and security standards and ensuring a high level of uptime.  As part of the senior leadership tea, you will be able to nurture company values and play a leading role in the vision and development of the core product, contributing strongly to the direction of the business.What you'll get in return for your talentsFirst and foremost, you’ll be working on development projects that are enabling genuine positive change to our environment.  There’s a competitive salary of up to £80-120K, employee stock options, 30 days holiday (+ bank hols), generous parental leave, volunteer days, pension, cycle to work scheme, top kit and more.  You’ll be working within a values driven company who trust and believe in their employees; transparency, fairness and humanity are core parts of their ethos.What's nextLike the sound of this one?  Send in your CV to Mike for immediate consideration.
