The Job:

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic PR Officer or PR Manager. You’ll play a key role in helping to raise awareness of campaigns and resources through securing media coverage, digital content and promotional activity in addition to giving media interviews to promote the charity and their latest campaigns.

You’ll be supporting the communications and marketing team by drafting engaging press releases, articles and blog posts; helping to arrange media interviews; working with influencers and celebrities; and playing your part in growing media presence.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in PR and interest in journalism, looking to develop their skills further while making a real difference.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support media activity to increase visibility across TV, radio, print and online
  • Write press releases and stories about campaigns, investigations and events
  • Identify PR opportunities and pitch to media outlets and journalists
  • Liaise with journalists, influencers and partners to raise their profile
  • Monitor media coverage and track PR activity and results
  • Help with award entries, interviews, podcasts and media events
  • Maintain and develop media contact lists and research journalist leads
  • Support social media and digital marketing activity as needed
  • Manage all incoming press enquiries
  • Actively seek PR Opportunities
  • Write and respond to relevant news
  • Manage and respond to journalist requests
  • Report monthly on media coverage
  • Organise and oversee media interviews with agencies
  • Write and send media releases for all campaigns, investigations, events, news and other relevant stories
  • Establish, build and develop media contacts, including researching sympathetic journalists who cover vegan-related news
  • Support the Head of Communications and campaigns team in developing and implementing promotional campaigns and marketing materials
  • Identify new outlets, media and topics of interest

The Person:

For this role they are seeking the following skills and experience:

  • 6–18 months of experience in PR (prior experience in journalism, marketing or communications in the charity sector is a bonus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A creative thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Confident and friendly approach when dealing with media, influencers and partners
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Some experience writing press releases or media content is desirable
  • A team player with a positive, can-do attitude

The Salary:

£29,000 - £34,000
