Here at Long-Term Teachers, we are working closely with a Special primary school in the Bristol area. They are seeking a class teacher to work on a full-time basis leading a KS1 class of ASD & SEMH students.

This wonderful school looks after a range of special needs, the class this school require someone for is a lovely class of ASD & SEMH students. The school is beautiful and very well established with exciting changes coming to the school over the next year.

The Role

This role is a full-time position, where the successful candidate will be expected to lead a class of 8 KS1 students being ably supported by a few TA's. The role would be a full teaching role so you will be expected to plan and mark your own lessons but adequate PPA time will be provided.

Due to the needs of the students it is essential that you feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have worked with ASD students before in some capacity. They are open to applications from teachers that have more of a mainstream teaching background that are keen to gain more experience in a special school environment.

You will be expected to:

  • Be adaptable and flexible around the needs of the pupils.
  • Have good experience of working with ASD or SEMH
  • Confidently lead your TA's in their own personal development.
  • Work in close proximity with the SENCO in providing individualised support to each of your pupils.
  • Support students on a personal level as well as educational.
