We're looking for an experienced Workshop Manager, HGV Workshop Supervisor or Depot Manager to lead a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Avonmouth. This role is ideal for someone with strong people management skills and a hands-on background in workshop operations. The site is busy, the team is established, and the opportunity is ready to go - immediate interviews available.
Key Responsibilities of a Workshop Manager / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Depot Manager
- Manage day-to-day running of the workshop including job allocation and team support
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians and workshop staff
- Ensure all repair, service, and maintenance work is completed to DVSA and manufacturer standards
- Maintain high levels of productivity and ensure compliance with health & safety procedures
- Handle staffing, holiday planning, overtime, and shift cover requirements
- Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth workshop operation and customer satisfaction
Skills and Qualifications for a Workshop Manager / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Depot Manager
Essential
- Experience supervising or managing a busy commercial vehicle or HGV workshop
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage workloads, delegate tasks, and drive performance
- Good working knowledge of DVSA standards and compliance requirements
Desirable
- Technical background or qualifications in HGV maintenance
- IRTEC or similar certification
- Experience within a dealership or fleet maintenance setting
