We're looking for an experienced Workshop Manager, HGV Workshop Supervisor or Depot Manager to lead a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Avonmouth. This role is ideal for someone with strong people management skills and a hands-on background in workshop operations. Key Responsibilities of a Workshop Manager / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Depot Manager

  • Manage day-to-day running of the workshop including job allocation and team support
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians and workshop staff
  • Ensure all repair, service, and maintenance work is completed to DVSA and manufacturer standards
  • Maintain high levels of productivity and ensure compliance with health & safety procedures
  • Handle staffing, holiday planning, overtime, and shift cover requirements
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth workshop operation and customer satisfaction

Skills and Qualifications for a Workshop Manager / HGV Workshop Supervisor / Depot Manager

Essential

  • Experience supervising or managing a busy commercial vehicle or HGV workshop
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage workloads, delegate tasks, and drive performance
  • Good working knowledge of DVSA standards and compliance requirements

Desirable

  • Technical background or qualifications in HGV maintenance
  • IRTEC or similar certification
  • Experience within a dealership or fleet maintenance setting
