Are you a dynamic and inspirational leader with a passion for English and a commitment to delivering excellence in education?

We are looking to appoint a Head of English who is passionate about curriculum excellence, has the drive to inspire both students and colleagues, and is ready to lead English across Key Stages 3 and 4.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the strategic development of English across the school

  • Raising standards of teaching and learning across the department

  • Developing curriculum maps, schemes of learning and assessment strategies that challenge and inspire

  • Supporting, coaching and developing a committed team of English specialists

  • Promoting literacy across the school and supporting whole-school priorities

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training

  • Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level

  • Have experience of initiation and effective management of change

  • Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups

  • Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications

  • Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking
