FryerMiles are delighted to be assisting a brilliant Consultancy in their recruitment of a Technical Architect to support critical defence sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile programmes, leveraging your technical expertise to design and deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.
You will be a vital part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, interfacing with key stakeholders across the defence community. This contract is offered Outside IR35, paying up to £590 per day, and requires an active Security Clearance (SC) as a minimum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of technical architecture solutions for defence projects.
- Produce high-quality architecture documentation (HLDs, LLDs, etc.) aligned with MOD standards.
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Provide technical leadership across the solution lifecycle, from initial concept through to delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with security, regulatory, and governance requirements.
- Support technical risk management and issue resolution activities.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to defence challenges.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Technical Architect within defence, security, or similarly regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of secure architecture design principles.
- Experience designing solutions in complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Expertise across a range of technologies including cloud (AWS/Azure), networking, cybersecurity, data architecture, and systems integration.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to produce technical documentation to a high professional standard.
- Current SC Clearance (or higher). Candidates without clearance cannot be considered.
- Knowledge of MOD architectural frameworks (e.g., MODAF) or defence-specific IT systems.
