What You'll Do:
- Lead the mechanical design aspects of customer and development projects from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with global clients in specification meetings, offering expert mechanical design advice.
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical design disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
- Travel occasionally to UK and international sites as needed.
- Develop creative design concepts and schemes.
- Produce detailed technical documentation (parts lists, assembly & detail drawings).
- Adhere to project timelines and cost targets throughout the design, procurement, and assembly processes.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments; advise on Health & Safety aspects of our product range, staying up-to-date on current regulations.
- Collaborate with all departments, ensuring on-time and within-budget project completion.
- Provide hands-on support to assembly and commissioning teams.
- Collaborate with sales and applications teams on concept drawings, costings, and timelines.
What You'll Need:
- A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in a Design/Development Engineering role.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Integrated Engineering (HNC minimum).
- Advanced 3D modeling skills (SolidWorks preferred, sheet metal experience a plus).
- Proven ability to design for manufacture and assembly while adhering to cost targets.
- Proficient in producing and interpreting 2D production drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with engineering calculations and analysis.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and interfaces.
- Ability to confidently lead technical aspects of projects, mentoring team members where needed.
- Knowledge of machinery directives and UKCA/CE marking essential.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with packaging machinery, safety, hygiene, ergonomics, aesthetics, paper/carton feeding, product handling, servo motion, and pneumatic systems preferred.
