Job Title: Electrical Project Manager - Substations (33kV)



Location: UK-wide / Hybrid



Role Overview:

The Electrical Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of substation construction and refurbishment projects, with a focus on 33kV systems. The role requires strong electrical engineering expertise, stakeholder coordination, and project leadership across multidisciplinary teams.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full lifecycle of electrical substation projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, designers, and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, NEC/NFPA codes, and health & safety standards.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Liaise with internal departments (Design, Procurement, Operations) and external stakeholders (e.g., SONI, customers).
  • Monitor project risks, costs, and performance, providing regular reports and forecasts.
  • Maintain high standards of on-site safety and quality assurance.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications, ensuring alignment with project goals.


Requirements:

  • HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical project management, ideally within substations or utility infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection, and metering.
  • Experience with project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Familiarity with NEC4 contracts and commercial management software (e.g., CEMAR).
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.


Desirable:

  • Accredited Project Management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (IET or equivalent).
  • Experience with 33kV-132kV substation projects.
  • Knowledge of online project collaboration tools and CAD software.
