Job Role:

We are looking for an experience QS to join a specific project focused on the complete fit-out of a new secure building. Key point is someone with high level of competency and experience associated to NEC4 contract delivery, CEMAR use, cost estimating and preparing compensation events, preparing claims.

We need someone that is going to add/improve the team and get hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Managing project costs, ensuring accurate cost estimation, and providing cost forecasts. Evaluating Compensation events and quotes (NCC and subcontractor submissions).
  • Commercial Contract Negotiation: Commercial contract negotiation; structuring, negotiation, setting-up, governance and administration of contracts. Cost estimation for scope changes and compensation events.
  • Contract Management: Supporting contract negotiation upwards and awarding contracts downwards with suppliers. Evaluation of tenders / supplier selection support.
  • Financial Planning: Support internal cost forecasting.
  • Communication: Effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving commercial issues and risks.
  • Software Proficiency: CEMAR experience with construction software and accounting software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction practices, industry standards, and relevant regulations.

Key Attributes:

  • An experienced QS who will hit the ground running and can work in a stand-alone role.
  • Construction background with experience in site/facility/large scale scientific laboratories development e.g. Defence, R&D/Engineering/Production facility/site kit-out/development (experience of equipment installation is desirable). An example would be a scientific laboratory with lots of complex scientific contracts, possibly NHS. This is to do with the kit-out of a facility with many complex services into a building, climate control and maybe an element of confidentiality.
  • NEC4 Contract experience (Option E and Option A).
  • Preparing NEC4 claims, including roll-up of subcontractors.
  • CEMAR contract management tool experience.

  • Clearly managing contracts within remit.
  • A tidy, auditable process visible to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong project accounting and reporting and adherence to compliance.
