Are you a skilled Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our client on a variety of construction and refurbishment projects. You'll take full commercial responsibility from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring cost control, profitability, and successful financial delivery of each project.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading organisation on a portfolio of projects across sectors such as retrofit, voids, and general fabric upgrades.

The Role: Quantity Surveyor

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing and controlling all commercial aspects of construction or refurbishment contracts - including cost planning, procurement, valuations, CVRs, subcontractor payments, and final accounts. The role requires attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measurement, pricing, and tender evaluation
  • Full project ownership from inception to final account
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Identify opportunities to maximise value and improve project margins
  • Produce and monitor cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Prepare and submit accurate applications for payment
  • Forecasting and financial reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, from appointment to final payment
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and the client to deliver successful outcomes

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a QS role within construction, refurbishment, or retrofit projects
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts, Schedules of Rates, and Bills of Quantities
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen
  • Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement and cost management
  • Ability to produce accurate CVRs and manage project costs end-to-end
  • Experience working with both direct labour and subcontracted workforces
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communicator with ability to liaise at all levels

Desirable:

  • Experience working on retrofit or public sector frameworks
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts
  • Knowledge of voids, social housing, or fabric upgrade projects
