Are you a compassionate and committed Male Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting children with SEND?

Do you have a calm and resilient approach, and a passion for making a real difference in a child’s school experience?

TeacherActive is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive school in North Somerset, who are looking to appoint a Male LSA to work 1:1 with a child who has a diagnosis of Autism and SEMH needs. This is a full-time role to start ASAP, supporting the child throughout the school day across all lessons.

The school are seeking someone patient, understanding, and experienced in working with children with additional needs. The child requires consistent and tailored support to access learning, manage emotions, and navigate the school environment. The successful candidate will accompany the child during all lessons, promoting engagement, building trust, and supporting both academic and emotional development.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or SEMH

  • Be confident working 1:1 and providing consistent classroom support

  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Be proactive, reliable, and committed to the well-being and progress of the child

  • Understand the importance of boundaries, structure, and positive reinforcement

  • Ideally hold a Level 2/3 TA qualification or have relevant SEND experience

Requirements:
  • Must be male, due to the specific needs and preferences of the child

  • Must have the right to work in the UK

  • Be able to provide two professional references

  • Hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS on the update service
