SEND Learning Support Assistant

TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking primary school in Bristol that is currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND on a 1:1 basis this January. The school is known for its inclusive values, warm community, and excellent SEN provision. You will play a key role in helping a child thrive academically and emotionally within a mainstream setting.

Your Role:

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Deliver personalised lessons and activities that align with EHCP targets
• Create a safe, supportive space where the child feels valued and confident
• Use positive behaviour support strategies and help the pupil manage emotional regulation
• Liaise with SENCOs, support staff, and external agencies to monitor progress and adjust provision as needed
• Provide both academic support and social-emotional guidance throughout the school day

As a Primary SEND Teacher (1:1), you will bring:

• A Level 3 or 4 qualification in Learning Support (or equivalent)

• Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis within a primary setting

• A calm, patient, and compassionate nature, with strong emotional awareness

• The ability to adapt and deliver differentiated learning strategies to suit individual needs

• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques

• A fully enhanced Child-Only DBS on the update service

• Two references from recent educational settings
