Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Randstad is looking for a Residential Child Care Worker on behalf of a client to join their Children Services team.

The Role:As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children, acting as an advocate for their well-being, and helping to shape and deliver the residential home's Statement of Purpose. You will build strong and nurturing relationships, helping children on their journey from care into independence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting young people in their daily lives, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and administering medication.
  • Accompanying children to appointments and on excursions, which may include overnight stays of up to one week.
  • Encouraging and supporting leisure and meaningful activities, both inside and outside the home.
  • Maintaining accurate and professional records and reports.
  • Working as part of a team and attending mandatory training and team meetings.
  • Being willing to work a varied shift pattern, including sleep-in duties, weekends, and bank holidays.

About You:

You must have experience working with children in a paid or voluntary capacity, including those who exhibit challenging behaviours. You should also have knowledge of child development and the effects of separation from families.

Requirements include:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People, or Health and Social Care (Children & Young People), or a Level 3 Diploma for Children & Young People's Workforce, or the willingness to complete one once you start.
  • The ability to work under pressure and respond calmly to emotive situations.
  • Strong written communication skills for writing comprehensive, clear, and accurate reports.
  • The ability to build rapport and demonstrate empathy and respect.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
