Support Worker - 2:1 Specialist Care (Bristol) - 13.75/hr

We are seeking experienced and empathetic Support Workers to join a dedicated care team providing 2:1 support for a young man with Autism, minimal verbal communication, and epilepsy. This is a highly specialised role requiring patience, professionalism, and a deep understanding of complex needs.

About the Role: You will be supporting a young man in his family home, working closely with his parents-both former senior professionals in the Social Care sector. Your role will involve managing challenging behaviour, supporting with personal care, and responding to health-related needs with sensitivity and skill.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escort the individual to a safe space during episodes of challenging behaviour; he will self-deescalate once safely supported.

  • Respond promptly to signs of abdominal discomfort by encouraging toilet use and offering reassurance.

  • Deliver personal care gently and respectfully, especially following episodes of soiling.

  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with his parents, who are actively involved in his care.

  • Promote safety, dignity, and emotional wellbeing at all times.

Essential Requirements:

  • Epilepsy training (must be current and evidenced).

  • Experience supporting individuals with Autism, minimal communication, and challenging behaviour.

  • Behavioural training such as PMVA, PBM, or equivalent.

  • Ability to work as part of a 2:1 support team.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, personal care, and risk management.

  • Driver preferred due to location and flexibility needs.

  • Skilled in de-escalation and positive behaviour support.

  • Respectful of family dynamics and professional boundaries.

  • Able to follow detailed care plans and maintain accurate records.

  • Comfortable with flexible working patterns including day and night shifts.
