Within this role you will be a part of a team that is dedicated to providing access and support for key tools within the Ministry of Defence (MOD), empowering software delivery teams with the necessary tooling to manage their projects efficiently. This role will be both on site at Bristol/Corsham and working from home. This is a contract role that will be initially for 3 months with opportunity for extension.
Role Overview:Â As a Tooling Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our team by:
- Conducting technical discovery into the planned tooling architecture.
- Defining processes for using infrastructure as code for tooling deployment, configuration, and maintenance patches.
- Validating security controls, including authentication policies and configuration to maintain information separation and security, adhering to the 'need to know' principle.
- Establishing principles for tooling, including:
- Tooling assurance requirements
- Tooling security requirements
- Preferred software hosting/architecture
- Containerisation and Kubernetes approach
- Through life management approach
- Defining and validating the tooling configuration strategy against user requirements for Beta deployment.
- Utilizing infrastructure as code (Terraform) for tooling deployment and maintenance patches within the GitOps framework.
- Managing Kubernetes applications using Helm.
- Working in an Agile scrum team, participating in 2-week sprints to prioritize and achieve sprint goals.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in technical discovery and tooling architecture.
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform) and GitOps framework.
- Strong knowledge of security controls and authentication policies.
- Familiarity with containerisation and Kubernetes.
- Experience working in Agile scrum teams.
- Ability to work both onsite in Corsham and remotely.
