Our client is a recognised digital solutions provider supporting secure, large-scale programmes across government, defence, and public service domains. Theyre currently scaling their engineering capability and looking to bring on a Back End Engineer who is highly proficient in Java and Spring Boot.
As a Back End Engineer, youll be embedded within a multidisciplinary agile delivery team, responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems. Youll play a critical role in shaping modern microservices architectures and delivering trusted solutions that solve real-world problems.
Your responsibilities as a Back End Engineer will include:
Designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot
Developing clean, efficient backend code that integrates seamlessly with wider systems
Collaborating closely with frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end features
Participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
Ensuring quality through unit/integration testing and documentation best practices
Your background as a Back End Engineer should include:
Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot frameworks
Familiarity with containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of cloud-based development (AWS, Azure or GCP)
Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
Comfortable contributing to collaborative team environments and agile delivery models
