About the Role:We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This full-time position is based within our specialist resource base, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom are non-verbal and have complex communication needs.

As an LSA in our resource base, you will work closely with the class teacher, SEND team, and external professionals to create a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment. You’ll play a vital role in helping children access the curriculum, build communication and social skills, and make meaningful progress in their education and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with ASD.

- Use visual aids, communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton), and sensory strategies to support learning and engagement.

- Assist with personal care routines when required.

- Work collaboratively with the teaching team and therapists to implement individualised learning plans.

- Support children’s emotional and social development in a respectful and patient manner.

- Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

Essential Requirements:

- Experience working with children with ASD, particularly those who are non-verbal.

- Strong understanding of strategies to support communication and sensory needs.

- Resilience, empathy, and a calm, positive attitude.

- Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and SEND professionals.

-Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.

Desirable:

- Training in or familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or similar communication systems.

- Previous experience in a resource base or specialist educational setting.
