This School in the BS16 area is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team at the beginning of June.

The Role

You will be joining the school as a SEN Teaching Assistant working with a team of teachers in the ASD Hub. You will be supporting the teacher in the child's class catering for their needs, engaging the child in indoor and outdoor activities. Ensuring the child reaches their full potential, both academically and socially.

You will be required to work on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year with the potential to continue in September.

The ideal SEN candidate is someone who is patient and caters for the child's needs making them feel comfortable in a classroom environment. Understanding their needs to build a trusting relationship with the child. Be prepared to adapt to changes in routine and prepare them in advance. Following the teachers lesson plan for each day ensures the child completes their tasks successfully.

You will be expected to:

  • Support the teachers in the ASD hub in creating activities inside and outside of the classroom.

  • Cater for the child's needs making them feel comfortable

  • Be enthusiastic to develop the child socially.

  • Build a consistent, trusting relationship with the child.

  • Provide a predictable routine to reduce anxiety.

  • Use clear, concise, and literal language.

  • Prepare the child in advance for changes in routine.
