About the RoleWe’re seeking a caring, adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs across a variety of schools and alternative provisions in North Bristol. This role offers flexible hours to suit your availability, ideal for someone looking for part-time, variable shifts, or a role that can work around other commitments.
Because you may be required to support different settings depending on demand, the ability to drive and travel independently is essential.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll help create safe, positive learning environments for children with varied needs, including SEMH, autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, and learning delays.
Key Responsibilities:-
Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual pupil needs.

Assisting with differentiated learning, sensory breaks, structured tasks, and routine-based support.

Using trauma-informed, nurturing approaches to build trust and promote engagement.

Supporting emotional regulation and applying positive behaviour strategies.
-
Helping maintain calm, structured classroom environments where pupils feel safe and valued.

Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral or therapeutic teams.
-
Travelling between settings in North Bristol when required (mileage may be reimbursed depending on placement).
Hours: Flexible - work available across mornings, afternoons, full days, or selected days each week.
Contract: Temporary with strong potential for long-term or permanent opportunities.
You’ll bring empathy, patience, and flexibility to support diverse learners across different settings.
You will be:

Experienced working with children or young people (SEN/SEMH experience highly advantageous).

Confident using nurturing, trauma-informed, and positive behaviour strategies.

Flexible with your availability and adaptable to different school environments.

Calm, patient, and resilient, able to support pupils through emotional and behavioural challenges.

A driver with access to your own vehicle (essential for flexible placements).
Experience with ASC, ADHD, social/emotional needs, or speech and language difficulties is a strong advantage.
Requirements:-
Recent experience working with children or young people (school-based experience preferred).

Ability to travel independently across North Bristol.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
