 The Role

We are seeking a caring, resilient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support to pupils aged 4–19 with Autism (ASC) and associated learning and communication needs. This role offers the chance to build meaningful relationships with students and support them in achieving their full potential academically, emotionally, and socially.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism, SLD, PMLD and complex needs.

  • Assist with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support (hoists, moving and handling).

  • Implement positive, proactive behaviour strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.

  • Follow individualised education and behaviour plans.

  • Promote communication, life skills and independence.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support students’ emotional regulation and well-being.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to deliver a personalised and holistic learning experience.

Who We’re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you should:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC) or other special educational needs.

  • Be confident supporting behaviour plans and working with children with emotional regulation needs.

  • Be comfortable delivering personal care and physical support, including moving and handling.

  • Hold a calm, patient, and nurturing approach.

  • Be a strong team player, able to follow instructions but also use initiative.

  • Hold a valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (desirable due to location).
